There is overwhelming research evidence that early intervention is crucial for improving children’s life chances, especially in disadvantaged families. Support needs to be provided early in the life of a child, early in the life of a problem. We commissioned the Parenting Research Centre to examine the evidence around improving early childhood learning and development, and as a result we have released four evidence briefs.
Early Years Centres provide children and their families with access to early childhood, health, family and parenting support services. They are funded by the Queensland Government. We run eight Early Years Centres in Queensland.
Other services focused on improving education outcomes for children include supported playgroups, and transition to kindergarten and school programs.
