A part of ageing well is being in control of your life and home. Our in-home care is designed to provide you with the support you need to keep living independently. We do this by providing a level of support that suits you, directed by you.

We can support you by helping out with the little things like:
  • cleaning and gardening services
  • housework, such as laundry, ironing or washing the dishes
  • meal preparation, cooking or shopping
  • and support four outings or day trips, such as a day at the library, bowling club or any event that you enjoy doing.
We can also provide a higher level of care, helping out with:
  • in-home nursing or personal care help having a shower or getting dressed
  • help at mealtimes
  • help for people with dementia.

How do I know what level of care I need?

We cater for people with high care and low care needs. Our regular reviews will ensure that the level of support you receive is right for your needs. We are flexible, if your needs change you may switch to a different package, or adjust the assistance to suit your situation. When you choose The Benevolent Society, we help you coordinate the care and services you select. We work with you to make sure you get the right support to suit your way of life.

Paying for your services

Talk to us about the costs of your in-home care. Fees will vary from person to person. Private Home Services are also available. You can access our private home services if you’re waiting for government subsidised services, aren’t eligible for government subsidiary or just want a full private services package.

Interpreters and Translations

We provide services for people from culturally diverse communities and non-English speaking backgrounds. If you need an interpreter, call TIS National on 131 450 and ask them to call The Benevolent Society on 1800 917 139. Our business hours are 9am–5pm. Hearing or speech impaired?

If you are deaf, or have a hearing or speech impairment, contact us through the National Relay Service. Visit for more information. The NRS has a Helpdesk to assist people in using the service.
