Our goal is to support you to choose the care you need. We understand that ageing well and living independently is about getting the right support for your personal health needs, and staying connected to family, friends and your local community.

Our philosophy of care is based on four core elements – quality, choice, control and transparency, and draws on the following approach:

  • You choose the types of care you access, how the care is delivered and who delivers it to you.
  • You set your own goals, such as staying active, maintaining your independence for as long as possible or returning to your home after you have been in hospital.
  • You decide how much you want to be involved in managing your home care package or other services

    Interpreters and Translations

    We provide services for people from culturally diverse communities and non-English speaking backgrounds. If you need an interpreter, call TIS National on 131 450 and ask them to call The Benevolent Society on 1800 917 139. Our business hours are 9am–5pm.     Hearing or speech impaired?

    If you are deaf, or have a hearing or speech impairment, contact us through the National Relay Service. Visit for more information. The NRS has a Helpdesk to assist people in using the service.
